• Use clean, water-free fuel – Always burn diesel, kerosene, or heating oil with no moisture or contaminants. Water in your fuel is extremely dangerous.
• Keep the regulator closed when not in use – This prevents moisture and debris from getting in.
  Store it covered – Use a cover when not in use, especially if it's stored outside, to protect from rain, snow, and dirt.
  Clean regularly – Remove carbon buildup from the stack and inside the burn chamber to keep airflow smooth and heat output strong.
• Light with care – Use a small amount of diesel-safe fire starter or kerosene—not gasoline—and always light from the top.
• Don’t move while burning – Let the pot fully cool before moving or refueling.
• Use on a flat, stable surface – Always place your smudge pot on solid ground away from flammable materials.
